On February 19, the National Library of Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević” and the Embassy of Romania in Montenegro marked 140 years since the birth of Romanian sculptor Constantin Brancusi (1876-1957). This is one of the most influential sculptors of the early twentieth century who developed the sculptural abstraction and opened the way for surrealism and later minimalism of 60s. In honor of the great sculptor, the National Library of Montenegro organized an exhibition of publications issued in Romania and publications in Romanian that are kept in the Library’s Fund. Romanian Ambassador to Montenegro Ferdinand Nagy, Ambassador of France to Montenegro Véronique Brumeaux and Director of the National Library Jelena Đurović spoke at the opening ceremony.
Romanian Ambassador Ferdinand Nagy spoke about Brancusi’s artistic expression, and after that he presented a symbolic donation of books to the National Library and in that way, as he said, contributed to the exchange of cultural relations between Montenegro and Romania.
